The afternoon of Friday, July 12, the Ben B. Cheney Foundation hit the track for the 12th Annual “Race for the Clubs” fundraiser benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound.
This year’s Cheney Foundation’s “Studs” race team, consisting of Board Members Andrew Cheney and Matt Beckingham, along with Foundation friends, Max Stackpole and Pat Tucci, finished in 2nd place.
“I see great value in supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of south Puget Sound,” said Andrew Cheney, “because they are an organization that is right in our back yard. They do incredible work with kids and give them a place to go after school & during the summer. Kids are our future, and I love what the Clubs are doing to help. Plus, ‘Race for the Clubs’ is such a fun way for members of the community to get together in support of a great cause!”
Each year the two hour “Race for the Clubs” Go-Kart endurance race at PGP Motorsports in Kent is hosted by Jeff Woodworth, President of Woodworth Family Foundation and longtime supporter of the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound. For each cart secured by a team, the Woodworth Foundation matched the entry fee and then donated an additional $15,000, bringing this year’s fundraising total to $100,000. In total, the “Race for the Clubs” event has raised $1,036,000 since its inception.
